Seagate Launches Exos 4U100: 3.2PB Storage for AI NOW
UPDATE: Seagate has just unveiled its groundbreaking Exos 4U100, a storage solution designed to meet the exploding demands of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). This cutting-edge enclosure boasts a staggering maximum capacity of 3.2 petabytes, making it a game-changer for businesses and data centers that require high-density storage NOW.
The Exos 4U100 is engineered using Seagate’s innovative Mozaic HAMR technology, allowing for enhanced data throughput while significantly reducing power consumption. This technology positions the Exos 4U100 as an essential asset for organizations that generate and analyze large volumes of data outside traditional cloud infrastructures.
As AI workflows evolve, the Exos 4U100 supports critical functions such as rapid data updates, local analysis, model checkpointing, and long-term data retention. Seagate claims this new system is 30% more power-efficient and offers 70% better cooling than its predecessor, making it ideal for edge environments.
“The Seagate Exos 4U100 JBOD marks the beginning of a bold new chapter in edge storage innovation,” stated Melyssa Banda, Senior Vice President of Edge Storage and Services at Seagate. This emphasis on edge storage is crucial as companies increasingly rely on real-time data processing capabilities.
In addition to its impressive capacity, the Exos 4U100 supports configurations for both SAS and SATA drives, accommodating up to 70 SSDs and HDDs in a single chassis. This hybrid approach balances the high-speed advantages of SSDs with the cost-effective long-term storage capabilities of HDDs—critical for AI environments where data is in constant flux.
With data sovereignty regulations and privacy expectations on the rise, Seagate has also implemented robust security measures. These include secure boot, Redfish management, and its proprietary Seagate Secure certification, ensuring that data integrity and security remain uncompromised.
As the demand for high-capacity storage continues to soar, the Exos 4U100 stands out as a pivotal solution for enterprises looking to capitalize on AI and ML advancements. It will be interesting to see how effectively this system maintains stability under real-world workloads, as companies push the limits of data processing.
The launch of the Exos 4U100 comes amid a larger trend in data storage technologies. With competitors like Solidigm announcing plans for 245+ TB SSDs by the end of 2026, the race for high-capacity, efficient storage solutions is heating up.
Stay tuned for further updates on the implications of Seagate’s latest innovations, and how they will impact the future of data storage and AI-driven operations. This launch is not just a technical milestone; it’s a call to action for businesses to adapt and innovate in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
