Sean Ryan Names Trini Ross as Co-Chair of Transition Team
BREAKING: Former U.S. Attorney Trini Ross has been named co-chair of Buffalo mayor-elect Sean Ryan‘s transition team, a critical leadership role confirmed just moments ago. The announcement, made Thursday, underscores an urgent effort to fill over 90 positions in city government ahead of Ryan’s official inauguration on January 1, 2026.
This transition team is pivotal for shaping the future of Buffalo, with Ross emphasizing the need for “smart, capable, dedicated, and knowledgeable” individuals. “We are looking for mission-focused leaders to join the Ryan administration,” Ross stated during a press conference, highlighting the team’s commitment to excellence.
Joining Ross as co-chair is Dr. Marie Cannon, president and CEO of the Community Action Organization of Western New York. The team is tasked with an ambitious mandate to recruit top talent across various city departments, ensuring a robust and effective administration from day one.
Leading the emergency services subcommittee is former Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia, who resigned earlier this year due to conflicting priorities with outgoing mayor Chris Scanlon. Additionally, Bill Geary, the current Erie County Department of Public Works Commissioner, will head the public works and parks subcommittee.
Ryan has made clear his intention to build an administration that prioritizes transparency and merit over political favors. “If we want a world-class city, it starts with filling City Hall with the smartest, most qualified, hardest-working people we can find,” Ryan asserted. “This won’t be an administration based on nepotism.”
The transition team is set to play a crucial role in establishing Ryan’s vision for Buffalo, with a focus on inclusivity and community engagement. The urgency of this process cannot be overstated, as the new administration prepares to tackle the pressing challenges facing the city.
As the transition unfolds, all eyes will be on the appointments made and the direction taken by the Ryan administration. For ongoing updates, viewers can watch the full press conference linked above.
