Studio Zag Teams with F1 Icon Carmen Jorda for New Film
BREAKING: Studio Zag, renowned for the blockbuster franchise “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir,” has just announced an exciting partnership with former F1 driver Carmen Jorda to create “Car Men,” an animated feature film celebrating women in motorsports. This groundbreaking project aims to empower Gen Z audiences with themes of resilience and ambition.
The collaboration was revealed today as Jeremy Zag, the co-creator and producer of “Miraculous,” expressed his enthusiasm for Jorda’s inspiring journey in a male-dominated sport. “Carmen must push beyond her limits to reclaim her dream and discover who she truly is,” Zag stated. The film will follow Jorda as she navigates the challenging world of racing, facing doubt and heartbreak along the way.
The production team behind “Car Men” is impressive, featuring Michael Gracey, director of “The Greatest Showman,” and Tyler Thompson from Cross Creek Pictures, known for hits like “Black Swan.” Additionally, Andrea Puig, a former HBO Max and Netflix executive, joins as executive producer, enhancing the film’s potential impact.
Jorda, who made history as the 11th woman to join a Formula 1 team, emphasized the importance of her story: “Racing has shaped my life. Partnering with Zag means turning my passion into a story that can inspire millions of young girls around the world.” She aims to show them they can dream big and fight hard, just as she did.
Gracey praised Jorda’s story, highlighting her resilience and ambition as qualities of a true hero. “It’s a privilege to let them guide our narrative,” he commented, signaling the film’s potential to resonate with audiences globally.
The project comes at a time when women in motorsports are gaining significant recognition. Recently, Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, launched a docuseries on female drivers in Formula 1’s F1 Academy, reflecting a growing interest in this powerful narrative.
Zag is also working on a second “Miraculous” movie after the first installment grossed over $40 million at the box office across Europe in 2023 and streamed successfully on Netflix in regions including the U.S. and Canada.
WHAT’S NEXT: As production on “Car Men” ramps up, audiences can expect updates on casting and release dates. This project promises to inspire and empower the next generation of female motorsport enthusiasts, reinforcing the message that women belong on the racetrack.
Stay tuned for more developments as Studio Zag and Carmen Jorda embark on this exciting journey, aiming to create a new hero for tomorrow.
