Two Arrested in Beach Park Murder-for-Hire Shooting
BREAKING: Two men are now in custody following a shocking murder-for-hire shooting that left a Beach Park man dead. Authorities from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office confirm that Cristian Ruval-Cavatorres, 29, was arrested after being charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with the incident that occurred on November 5, 2023 at approximately 5:20 a.m.
The tragic shooting took place in the 34800 block of North Sheridan Road, where the victim was sitting in his car, warming it up before heading to work. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries over the weekend, leaving the community in shock.
Authorities report that Ruval-Cavatorres is being held at the Racine County jail, where he faces several firearms charges. Another individual, believed to have hired Ruval-Cavatorres, has also been taken into custody but has not yet been formally charged, police state.
Surveillance footage captured a suspicious vehicle cruising slowly in the neighborhood just prior to the shooting. Investigators tracked the vehicle’s license plate, which led them to Ruval-Cavatorres. The Mount Pleasant Police executed a traffic stop on November 5, leading to Ruval-Cavatorres’ arrest. During the stop, police uncovered critical evidence, including a pistol and a phone used to orchestrate the deadly plan.
On November 9, authorities located the suspected mastermind behind the shooting in the 1600 block of Park Avenue, North Chicago, and took him into custody.
“Our detectives swiftly uncovered a significant amount of evidence that led them to the offender, as well as to identifying and arresting the individual who ordered the shooting,” stated Sheriff John Idleburg. He emphasized the department’s commitment to holding “relentlessly violent offenders accountable.”
