Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Battery Tested, Faces Challenge from Oppo X9 Pro
UPDATE: Xiaomi’s 17 Pro Max has just launched in China on September 25, 2025, boasting an impressive 7,500 mAh battery. However, recent tests indicate that the device may soon lose its battery supremacy as new contenders emerge.
Independent assessments from Novice Evaluation and WhyLab reveal that Oppo’s unreleased Find X9 Pro has already outperformed the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in critical real-world battery tests. Early benchmarks show the Find X9 Pro lasting significantly longer in demanding scenarios, raising questions about Xiaomi’s battery efficiency.
In a recent test conducted by TechDroider, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max narrowly edged out the iPhone 17 Pro Max, achieving 13 hours and 36 minutes of usage compared to Apple’s 13 hours and 31 minutes. This was surprising given the iPhone’s smaller 4,823 mAh battery, reflecting Apple’s advanced power management capabilities in the A19 Pro chip.
However, the excitement surrounding Xiaomi’s flagship may be short-lived. In Novice Evaluation’s rigorous benchmarks, the Find X9 Pro reportedly lasted 7 hours and 18 minutes under heavy usage—outpacing Xiaomi’s offering, which managed only 6 hours and 49 minutes. Even the base Find X9, with a smaller battery, clocked in at 6 hours and 51 minutes, further emphasizing the gap.
Notably, the iQOO Z10 Turbo+, equipped with an astonishing 8,000 mAh battery, topped the charts with 7 hours and 31 minutes of usage. A separate analysis from WhyLab pushed the Find X9 Pro’s performance to an impressive 9 hours and 30 minutes of continuous operation, leaving the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max trailing at 8 hours and 24 minutes.
These revelations suggest that while Xiaomi has made strides in hardware, its software optimization may lag behind competitors like Oppo. The findings have ignited discussions among tech enthusiasts, questioning whether Xiaomi’s colossal battery can truly deliver on its promises during intensive tasks.
As of now, Xiaomi has not announced an official international release date for the 17 Pro Max, but reports indicate it could hit global markets between February and March 2026. Meanwhile, the anticipation around Oppo’s Find X9 series continues to build, even before its official unveiling.
With rising expectations for battery endurance in 2026’s smartphone landscape, the competition is heating up. Xiaomi’s massive battery may hold the title for now, but Oppo’s imminent release could redefine what consumers expect from smartphone endurance. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
